After Bajaj, TVS Motor has now entered the electric two-wheeler market. TVS launches electric scooter in Karnataka capital Bangalore on Saturday. The scooter will hit Bajaj’s electric scooter Chetak. On January 14, Bajaj Auto launched the electric version of its popular “Chetak” scooter.

This electric scooter TVS iCube Element has a 4.4 kV electric motor. It can run at a speed of 78 kilometers. At the same time, once fully charged, it can carry up to 75 kilometers. The electric scooter can hold zero to 40 kilometers in 4.2 seconds. This model has the TVS SmartXonnect platform, which offers various features like geo-fencing, remote battery charge navigation etc.

Talking about the price, it can be purchased in Karnataka for Rs 1.15 lakh and it will be sold first in Bengaluru. After that it will be sold in other cities of the country. The company says that it will produce only 1000 units every month. Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and TVS Motor Company Chairman Venu Srinivasan were present during the launch of the TVS e-scooter.

Bajaj Chetak to hit!
It is expected to compete mainly with Bajaj Chetak Electric in the Indian market. Talking about Bajaj Auto’s Chetak scooter, it will be available in two variants – Eco and Sport mode. The company will offer the 95-km range in Eco mode while the electric scooter in Sport mode will offer a range of 85 kilometers.In terms of safety, the integrated braking system will be available. It will have a large digital instrument panel which will also support Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones and turn-by-turn navigation. The starting price of this scooter is Rs 1 lakh.
